Abstract

Bengali language is an important language over the world. There are enormous idioms in this language. An idiom is one kind of phrase or expression which has a meaning that can’t be analyzed by explaining the individual words. Idioms are used to express the thought aesthetically. The roots of many Bengali idioms can be tressed from Sanskrit. There are many epics, kavyas, puranas, story literature written by Sanskrit language. Those are evolved around the events of human life. Many incidents are transmitted to idioms in Bengali language from Sanskrit. But most of the people in our society don’t know the origin of the idioms, they use it spontaneously in their conversation. This article assesses usages of mythical idioms and its history of origin as well as stark connections with the daily incidents.
